Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator: Miss Kate Nattrass (Anna Shields Maternity Cover for Miss Nattrass)

At Lanercost Church of England Primary School we provide interventions to support the Four Broad Areas of Need. These are:

• Communication and Interaction (C&I);
• Cognition and Learning (C&L);
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH);
• Sensory and/or Physical Needs (SPN). 

Support we offer:

We have a highly trained team of Teaching Assistants who are able to facilitate interventions to support children across all classes. We have staffed trained specifically in Speech, Language and Communication Needs, an Emotional Language Support Assistant to provide sessions focusing on Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. We also have an Occupational Therapist who works with children on Sensory and Physical Needs as well as SEMH needs. Our Teaching Assistants also run Phonics interventions, Pre-Teach maths sessions and Reading Comprehension booster sessions.

We pride ourselves on working alongside external agencies to ensure our children are getting targeted support to ensure they reach their potential and barriers to learning are removed.
